Description
Bactobolin A was isolated from the fermentation broth of Pseudomonas sp. BMG13-A7. Bactobolin A has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and prolongs the survival period of mice bearing leukemia L1210. The acute toxicity of bactobolin A is estimated at 6.25-12.5 mg/kg in CDF1 mice by a single intraperitoneal injection. It is reported that bactobolin A binds to a site on the 70S ribosome, which was different from the other antibiotics previously known.
