FluxMPS™ Hank's Balanced Salt Solution With Phenol red and Sodium bicarbonate Without Calcium: 1X

An MPS-grade, calcium-free Hank's Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS) 1X formulated with magnesium, sodium bicarbonate, and phenol red for real-time pH monitoring. Quadruple-stage filtered to microchannel-safe purity using ultrapure Type 1 water, this calcium-free buffer prevents interference with enzymatic dissociation protocols such as trypsinization while retaining magnesium for enzymatic cofactor and ATPase-dependent functions.

  • Filtered 0.1 µm membrane twice and 0.04 µm membrane twice for ultra-clean, microchannel-safe purity
  • Endotoxin content not more than (NMT) 1 EU/mL
  • Calcium-free formulation prevents interference with calcium-sensitive enzymatic reactions like trypsinization
  • Magnesium retained to support ATPase activity and other magnesium-dependent enzymatic processes
  • Phenol red included for real-time visual assessment of medium pH
  • Sodium bicarbonate buffering supports short-term cell transport in ambient CO2 environments
  • Manufactured with ultrapure Type 1 water (18.2 MΩ·cm) under ISO 13485-certified, CE-approved facilities
  • Custom pH, concentrations, additives, and modifications available on request

Why FluxMPS™

Engineered where standard buffers fail

Conventional 0.22 µm-filtered balanced salt solutions can carry subvisible particulates, uncontrolled ion content, and residual calcium that interferes with enzymatic dissociation. FluxMPS™ balanced salt solutions are built around a defined, calcium-free ionic profile and multi-stage filtration to protect microchannel geometries and sensitive downstream assays.

filter_alt

Microchannel-safe purity

Sequential 0.1 µm and 0.04 µm membrane filtration, each applied twice, minimizes particulate load relative to single-pass 0.22 µm filtration commonly used in conventional balanced salt solutions.

target

Calcium-free, magnesium-retained design

The absence of calcium prevents interference with calcium-sensitive enzymatic reactions such as trypsinization, while retained magnesium continues to support ATPase activity and other magnesium-dependent cellular processes.

water_drop

Ultrapure-grade water

Formulated with Type 1 ultrapure water (18.2 MΩ·cm), aligned with USP <85> water-quality expectations for sensitive cell and molecular biology work.

visibility

Real-time pH monitoring

Phenol red enables real-time visual assessment of medium pH during experiments, while sodium bicarbonate provides buffering capacity suitable for short-term cell transport in ambient CO2 environments.

science

Defined, traceable composition

Every inorganic salt, D-glucose, and phenol red sodium salt component is lot-released to a fixed mg/L specification, giving reproducible ionic conditions batch to batch.

Purity Architecture

Quadruple-stage filtration system

This buffer is sterile-filtered through a 0.1 µm membrane twice and a 0.04 µm membrane twice — four sequential filtration passes designed to protect enzymatic reagents, microfluidic channels, and downstream assays from particulate and bioburden carry-over.

  1. 1

    0.1 µm Pre-filtration I

Removes large particulates and aggregates from the bulk solution, extending the service life of downstream filters.

  2. 2

    0.04 µm Pre-filtration II

Retains fine particulates and reduces bioburden well below the size of the smallest mycoplasma types, which can be about 0.2 micron.

  3. 3

    0.1 µm Sterile-filtration I

A second 0.1 µm pass provides redundancy ahead of final sterile filtration.

  4. 4

    0.04 µm Sterile-filtration II — Final Polish

Final polishing pass performed under ISO Class 5 (Class 100) conditions ahead of aseptic fill, helping prevent mycoplasma contamination.

Performance vs. conventional buffer

Sequential 0.1 µm and 0.04 µm filtration, each applied twice, removes finer particulates than the single 0.22 µm pass used in conventional balanced salt solutions and helps guard against mycoplasma-scale contaminants.

Applications

Where calcium-free HBSS fits your workflow

This calcium-free, magnesium-retained HBSS with phenol red and sodium bicarbonate supports cell washing and resuspension in calcium-sensitive protocols (such as enzymatic dissociation where calcium inhibits trypsin activity), magnesium-dependent enzymatic and ion-channel studies, real-time pH monitoring via phenol red, and short-term cell transport in ambient CO2 environments thanks to bicarbonate buffering.

Automated Bioreactors & Robotics

Next-Generation System Uptime

For automated bioreactor and robotic liquid-handling platforms where valve and sensor fouling drive downtime, an optional 0.01 µm (10 nm) ultra-filtered variant of this buffer can be requested.

  • Total Particulate Exclusion: finer filtration reduces particulate load beyond the standard quadruple-stage architecture
  • Valve & Sensor Protection: minimizes fouling risk in automated dispensing hardware
  • Extended Perfusion Stability: supports longer unattended perfusion runs

Inquiry Required: the 0.01 µm (10 nm) ultra-filtered grade is available on request — contact support@diagnocine.com.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about DCP-HBSSRB-C1X, its filtration architecture, and formulation.

Yes. This calcium-free HBSS is quadruple-stage filtered (0.1 µm membrane twice, 0.04 µm membrane twice) using ultrapure Type 1 water, producing an ultra-clean, microchannel-safe buffer suitable for organ-on-a-chip (OoC), microphysiological system (MPS), and other microfluidic perfusion workflows.
Each lot passes through a 0.1 µm membrane twice and a 0.04 µm membrane twice — four sequential filtration passes in total. This removes finer particulates and helps guard against mycoplasma-scale contaminants (mycoplasma organisms can be as small as about 0.2 micron) compared with a single 0.22 µm pass used in conventional balanced salt solutions.
This lot is formulated to pH 7.4 with an osmolality of 270.00 - 310.00 mOsm/kg H2O, contains magnesium but no calcium, and includes sodium bicarbonate and phenol red. Alternate pH, concentrations, additives, and modifications can be arranged — contact support@diagnocine.com.
The product specification states pH 7.4 without a specified measurement temperature. Store at 2-8°C away from bright light and use before the expiry date on the product label to maintain the stated pH and osmolality specifications.
Yes. Additional concentrations, chemicals, compounds, proteins, or supplements, along with different pH values, can be custom-formulated on request — contact support@diagnocine.com.
Endotoxin content is not more than (NMT) 1 EU/mL, verified per USP Bacterial Endotoxins Test methodology.
Yes. A CoA is available for this lot, documenting appearance, pH, osmolality, sterility, toxicity testing, and endotoxin content. Contact support@diagnocine.com to request a copy.
