Description
The mitogen-activated protein/ERK kinase kinase 3 (MEKK3) is a member of a family of MEKK/Ste11 serine/threonine protein kinases. One function of MEKK3 is to serve as an upstream regulatory kinase in the mitogen activated protein kinase cascade, however, it also plays a critical role in other signaling pathways. MEKK3 regulates several important functions including cell survival and proliferation. It is ubiquitously expressed in multiple tissues and has been found in complexes with scaffold proteins and other kinases.Cerebral cavernous malformations (CCMs) complex regulation of MEKK3 is essential during vertebrate heart development. MEKK3 signalling and KLF2/4 may be targeted to develop new CCM therapeutics.

Antigen Characterization
- Type: Primary
- Application: ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry
- Species: Human, Mouse
- Recombinant: Yes
Human Diseases
- Esophageal Cancer: MEKK3 expression is significantly increased in esophageal dysplasia and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) .
- Inflammatory Diseases: Involved in the regulation of proinflammatory cytokines, contributing to conditions like inflammatory bowel disease .
- Neuroinflammation: Plays a critical role in neuroinflammation related to diseases such as Parkinson's disease
Cellular Signaling Pathways
- MAPK Pathway: MEKK3 is a crucial component that activates signaling cascades leading to cellular responses such as proliferation and inflammation .
- NF-κB Pathway: Regulates the expression of proinflammatory cytokines via IL-1R and TLR-mediated pathways .
- Hippo Pathway: MEKK3 interacts with components of this pathway to regulate cell growth and apoptosis
