FluxMPS™ Minimum Essential Medium (MEM), High Glucose w/o L-Glutamine, Sodium Bicarbonate, Phenol Red: 1X Liquid

Contains Calcium Contains Magnesium Contains Glucose Contains Sodium Pyruvate Without L-Glutamine Without Sodium Bicarbonate Without Phenol Red Without HEPES

FluxMPS™ Minimum Essential Medium (MEM), High Glucose w/o L-Glutamine, Sodium Bicarbonate, Phenol Red: 1X Liquid is a Microfluidics Suitable, quadruple-stage ultra-filtered (0.1 µm ×2 + 0.04 µm ×2) cell culture medium engineered for organ-on-a-chip (OoC), tissue-on-a-chip (ToC), and microphysiological system (MPS) applications. A quadruple-stage train (0.1 µm ×2 + 0.04 µm ×2) reaches a 0.04 µm final cut-off, five times finer than the 0.22 µm membranes used for conventional sterile filtration.

  • High glucose (4.5 g/L) base formulated without L-glutamine, sodium bicarbonate, or phenol red — supplement each per your protocol
  • Quadruple-stage filtration train: 0.1 µm (Prefiltration I & II) + 0.04 µm (Final filtration I & II), four validated passes per lot
  • Endotoxin release specification: < 0.05 EU/mL (LAL, USP <85> BET), tested per manufacturing batch
  • pH 7.4 (USP <791>); osmolality reported on the Certificate of Analysis
  • Prepared with Type 1 water (18.2 MΩ·cm, ASTM D1193 / ISO 3696) for low trace-metal and organic-carbon background
  • Manufactured under an ISO 13485:2016 quality management system; final QC at Diagnocine, Totowa NJ
  • Bicarbonate-free and phenol-red-free formulation — CO₂ buffering is not required; add HEPES if extended non-incubator handling is needed
  • Custom formulations available — pH, glucose, salts, HEPES, and nutrient composition on request

Why FluxMPS™

Engineered where standard media fails

Conventional 0.22 µm-filtered media carry mycoplasma-sized organisms (0.2–0.3 µm), subvisible debris, and endotoxin variability that accumulate inside microchannels — corrupting biosensor readings, stressing primary cultures, and shortening device lifetimes. FluxMPS™ addresses these failure modes with a validated four-stage filtration train.

Purity Architecture

Quadruple-stage filtration system

FluxMPS™ Minimum Essential Medium (MEM), High Glucose w/o L-Glutamine, Sodium Bicarbonate, Phenol Red: 1X Liquid is processed through a validated four-stage filtration sequence reaching a 0.04 µm final cut-off — engineered to retain mycoplasma-sized organisms and subvisible particulates that a standard 0.22 µm filter cannot exclude.

  1. 1

    0.1 µm Prefiltration I

Removes large particulates, cell debris, and protein aggregates; protects the first 0.04 µm final filter cartridge.

  2. 2

    0.04 µm Final filtration I

First 0.04 µm pass; retains fine particulates and organisms in the mycoplasma size range (0.2–0.3 µm) that pass a standard 0.22 µm filter.

  3. 3

    0.1 µm Prefiltration II

Second dedicated prefilter stage, protecting the second 0.04 µm final filter cartridge from residual particulate load.

  4. 4

0.04 µm Final filtration II — Polish

Ultimate polishing filter prior to ISO Class 5 aseptic fill & finish.

Performance vs. conventional media

Four sequential stages reaching 0.04 µm deliver approximately 5× cleaner media by particulate count compared to single-pass 0.22 µm filtration, with USP <788> Method 1 compliance verified on every production batch.

Sterility assurance: Every batch undergoes 14-day USP <71> sterility testing. Mycoplasma risk is controlled via 0.1 µm mycoplasma-retentive filtration (not tested per lot), not by a mycoplasma assay result.
Grade: This product is Microfluidics Suitable, filtered to a 0.04 µm final cut-off. It is not an MPS Grade product — that designation is reserved for the 0.01 µm ultra nano-filtered line, which adds 0.02 µm and 0.01 µm stages after the 0.04 µm polish. FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about FluxMPS™ Minimum Essential Medium (MEM), High Glucose w/o L-Glutamine, Sodium Bicarbonate, Phenol Red: 1X Liquid and Microfluidics Suitable cell culture media.

Yes. DCP-MEMG-QBRN1X uses our Quadruple-stage filtration (0.1 µm ×2 + 0.04 µm ×2), delivering ultra-low particulate counts that prevent microchannel clogging in OoC and MPS devices. It is Microfluidics Suitable at a 0.04 µm final cut-off.
Standard 0.22 µm filtration leaves intact mycoplasma-sized organisms (0.2–0.3 µm) and subvisible particulates that accumulate in microchannels. FluxMPS™ uses four sequential stages reaching 0.04 µm, delivering approximately 5× lower particulate counts per USP <788> Method 1.
This base allows full control over buffering and indicator chemistry. Add L-glutamine (or a stable dipeptide substitute) to your target concentration at time of use; add sodium bicarbonate if you require CO₂-buffered culture, or use HEPES for open-system handling; add phenol red only if a visual pH indicator is required for your assay. None of these three components are present in the base formulation, so no double-dosing risk exists.
No. This formulation contains no sodium bicarbonate, so CO₂ incubation is not required for pH buffering. If extended handling outside a CO₂ incubator is needed, supplement with HEPES; if CO₂-buffered culture is preferred, add sodium bicarbonate at time of use.
Yes. FluxMPS™ Minimum Essential Medium (MEM), High Glucose w/o L-Glutamine, Sodium Bicarbonate, Phenol Red: 1X Liquid can be supplemented with FBS (5–20%), growth factors, antibiotics, or other additives per standard practice. When filtering serum-containing or protein-containing supplements before addition, use a 0.2 µm low-protein-binding PES or PVDF membrane — never a 0.04 µm membrane, which retains IgM, VLDL, and much of the lipid/lipoprotein fraction serum needs to function. Add supplements immediately before use.
Endotoxin is controlled per manufacturing batch, not per unit. Every batch is tested by LAL assay per USP <85> BET (assay sensitivity 0.005 EU/mL) and must meet the release specification of < 0.05 EU/mL before shipment. Batch-specific results are documented in the Certificate of Analysis, available from support@diagnocine.com.
Yes. A batch-specific CoA is available for every shipment and includes: appearance, pH (USP <791>), osmolality (USP <785>), endotoxin (USP <85> BET), sterility (USP <71>), particulate matter (USP <788> Method 1), raw material traceability, manufacturing date, and authorized release signatures.
