FluxMPS™ Minimum Essential Medium (MEM), Low Glucose, NEAA w/o L-Glutamine, Sodium Pyruvate, Phenol Red: 1X Liquid

Contains Sodium Bicarbonate Contains Calcium Contains Magnesium Contains Low Glucose Without L-Glutamine Without Phenol Red Without Sodium Pyruvate

FluxMPS™ DCP-MEM-QPR1X is a Microfluidics Suitable, quadruple-stage ultra-filtered (0.1 µm ×2 + 0.04 µm ×2) MEM Low Glucose + NEAA formulation engineered for primary fibroblasts and related primary cell models on organ-on-a-chip (OoC) and microphysiological system (MPS) platforms. A quadruple-stage train (0.1 µm ×2 + 0.04 µm ×2) reaches a 0.04 µm final cut-off, five times finer than the 0.22 µm membranes used for conventional sterile filtration. NEAA is pre-loaded to reduce metabolic burden on primary cells. Formulation: [+] Earle's Salts, [+] NEAA, [+] Low Glucose (1000 mg/L), [+] Sodium Bicarbonate | [-] L-Glutamine, [-] Sodium Pyruvate, [-] Phenol Red.

  • Low Glucose (1.0 g/L) — physiological carbon source for primary cells sensitive to high-glucose media
  • NEAA pre-loaded reduces de novo synthesis burden and ammonia accumulation in primary cell culture
  • Quadruple-stage filtration: 0.1 µm Prefiltration I → 0.04 µm Final filtration I → 0.1 µm Prefiltration II → 0.04 µm Final filtration II — Polish
  • Endotoxin release specification < 0.05 EU/mL (LAL, USP <85>) — suited to sensitive primary and hematopoietic cell cultures
  • L-Glutamine, Sodium Pyruvate and Phenol Red are excluded — add fresh at time of use for full metabolic control and autofluorescence-free imaging baselines
  • Manufactured under an ISO 13485:2016 quality management system; final QC at Diagnocine, Totowa, NJ

Why FluxMPS™

Engineered for primary cell culture where standard media fails

MEM with Earle's Salts is the primary cell biologist's medium — but conventional 0.22 µm filtered MEM passes particulates, mycoplasma-sized organisms, and endotoxin that can alter primary cell phenotype. FluxMPS™ is built to reduce these risks while preserving the full nutritional profile primary cells depend on.

Purity Architecture

Quadruple-stage filtration system

Four serial filtration passes — a repeated prefilter + final-filter pair, run twice — reaching a final 0.04 µm polish.

  1. 1

    0.1 µm Prefiltration I

Removes large particulates, cell debris and protein aggregates; protects the first 0.04 µm cartridge.

  2. 2

    0.04 µm Final filtration I

First 0.04 µm pass; retains sub-micron particulates and organisms in the mycoplasma size range (0.2–0.3 µm) that a standard 0.22 µm filter does not.

  3. 3

    0.1 µm Prefiltration II

A second, dedicated prefilter protecting the second 0.04 µm cartridge.

  4. 4

0.04 µm Final filtration II — Polish

Ultimate polishing filter; aseptic fill & finish under ISO Class 5 (Class 100) conditions.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about FluxMPS™ DCP-MEM-QPR1X.

DCP-MEM-QPR1X is processed through a quadruple-stage filtration system reaching a 0.04 µm final pore size, delivering ultra-low particulate levels for MPS, OoC, and LoC platforms. MEM + Earle's Salts + NEAA with 0.1 µm mycoplasma-retentive filtration is well suited to primary neuronal, epithelial, and fibroblast OoC platforms.

Phenol red is removed for autofluorescence-free imaging; L-glutamine and sodium pyruvate are removed so users can supplement fresh at time of use, since both degrade or are consumed during storage and culture. Sodium bicarbonate provides standard CO₂ buffering. This design enables clean optical baselines with full metabolic control for live-cell confocal and TEER-monitored primary cell OoC platforms.
Yes. This formulation contains 2200 mg/L sodium bicarbonate and is designed for use in a 5% CO₂ incubator to maintain pH near 7.4.
NEAA are pre-loaded, providing non-essential nitrogen and carbon skeleton support. This reduces the metabolic burden on primary cells that would otherwise synthesize these amino acids de novo from glutamine and glucose, improving viability in low-serum conditions and reducing ammonia accumulation.
Yes. Serum and other protein-containing supplements should be filtered through a 0.2 µm low-protein-binding PES or PVDF membrane before addition; a 0.04 µm membrane is not appropriate for serum and will strip out lipoproteins and clog quickly. Defined, protein-free additions may use a 0.1 µm filter. L-Glutamine and sodium pyruvate can be added fresh at time of use.
Yes. Every batch is tested before release and a Certificate of Analysis is available on request, covering appearance, pH (USP <791>), osmolality (USP <785>), sterility (USP <71>), endotoxin (USP <85>, LAL, release specification < 0.05 EU/mL), and particulate count (USP <788> Method 1).
