Why FluxMPS™

Engineered where standard media fails

Conventional DMEM is sterile-filtered once at 0.22 µm. That pore size can pass mycoplasma and leaves subvisible particulates that settle in microchannels, foul membranes and hydrogels, and add noise to optical readouts.[11,12] FluxMPS™ DMEM keeps Dulbecco's formulation and removes that failure mode.

filter_alt

Microchannel-safe purity

A 0.04 µm final filter and USP <788> particulate control keep subvisible debris out of chips, tubing, membranes and matrices.

target

Total metabolic control

Defined 6,302 mg/L D-glucose, no L-glutamine and 220 mg/L sodium pyruvate in the 2X (half that at 1X).

water_drop

Ultrapure-grade water

Made with Ultrapure Type 1 water (18.2 MΩ·cm) and released at < 0.05 EU/mL endotoxin by USP <85>.

visibility

Low background for imaging

Particle-depleted medium reduces scatter and debris artifacts in colony counting, confocal imaging and on-chip sensing, and the Phenol Red-free formulation removes color background.

Purity Architecture

Quadruple-stage filtration system

Every lot of DCP-DM12-QR2X is membrane filtered at 0.1 µm twice and 0.04 µm twice — a ready-to-dilute 2X DMEM polished to a 0.04 µm final pore size, a purity level single-pass 0.22 µm media cannot reach.

Performance vs. conventional media

By particulate count, FluxMPS™ DMEM is approximately 5× cleaner than conventional 0.22 µm-filtered media, lowering clog risk in narrow channels and long perfusion runs.

Applications

Where FluxMPS™ DMEM fits

DMEM/F-12 (1:1) With Trace Elements combines Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium and Ham’s F-12 Nutrient Mixture in an equal ratio.[1,2,3] It provides amino acids, vitamins, salts, glucose, and trace elements to support a broad range of mammalian cells in laboratory culture.

This nutrient-rich formulation is commonly used for in vitro epithelial, primary-cell, stem-cell, organoid, and other research cell-culture applications. It is also suitable for developing serum-reduced or defined research media when used with appropriate supplements.[4,5]

DMEM/F-12 (1:1) 2X With Trace Elements is a double-strength formulation designed to be diluted to 1X or combined with an equal volume of another compatible solution. The 2X format helps maintain the intended final 1X concentrations of basal nutrients and trace elements when adding large volumes of supplements, treatment solutions, cell suspensions, hydrogels, or other matrices.

It is useful for:

  • Development of defined or serum-reduced research media.
  • In vitro epithelial and primary-cell research.
  • Research-use stem-cell and organoid culture.
  • Nutrient-response and cellular-metabolism studies.
  • Laboratory-scale semisolid, hydrogel, and 3D cell culture.
  • Research-use tissue-engineering and organ-on-a-chip studies.
  • Customized media preparation with added growth factors or supplements.
  • Experimental workflows requiring concentrated basal medium.

Automated Bioreactors & Robotics

Next-Generation System Uptime

For automated bioreactors, liquid-handling robots and closed perfusion loops with fine valves and in-line sensors, an optional 10 nm (0.01 µm) ultra-filtered grade of this medium is available.

  • Total Particulate Exclusion: 0.01 µm filtration removes virtually all particulates down to the nanometer scale.
  • Valve & Sensor Protection: keeps micro-valves, pumps and optical or electrochemical sensors free of deposits.
  • Extended Perfusion Stability: supports long, uninterrupted perfusion runs with fewer line changes.

Inquiry Required: the 0.01 µm grade is made on request — email support@diagnocine.com with your catalog number and volume.

Note: pH and sodium bicarbonate concentration of the prepared medium are critical factors affecting cell growth. This is also influenced by amount of medium and volume of culture vessel used (surface to volume ratio). For example, in large bottles, such as Roux bottles, pH tends to rise perceptibly as a significant volume of carbon dioxide is released. Therefore, optimal conditions of pH, sodium bicarbonate concentration and surface to volume ratio must be determined for each cell type. We recommend stringent monitoring of pH. If needed, pH can be adjusted by using sterile 1N HCl or 1N NaOH or by bubbling in carbon dioxide. If required, supplements can be added to the medium prior to or after filter sterilization observing sterility precautions.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about using DCP-DM12-QR2X for semisolid, 3D, microfluidic and conventional culture.

Yes. DCP-DM12-QR2X is quadruple-stage filtered to a 0.04 µm final pore size, so it carries far fewer subvisible particles than 0.22 µm media — approximately 5× cleaner by particulate count. That lowers the risk of clogging microchannels, valves and membranes in organ-on-a-chip, hydrogel-based 3D and microfluidic perfusion systems.[8,9,10]
The medium is filtered four times: 0.1 µm twice and 0.04 µm twice. A single 0.22 µm pass can let mycoplasma and fine particulates through; the 0.04 µm stages act as a mycoplasma barrier and polish out sub-micron particles before ISO Class 5 aseptic fill.[11]
L-glutamine breaks down in liquid medium over time, releasing ammonia that can stress sensitive cultures; a glutamine-free base lets you add fresh L-glutamine or a stable dipeptide just before use. Our complete 2X formulation carries 730 mg/L L-glutamine (365 mg/L at 1X). Phenol Red is left out because it adds background in fluorescence and absorbance readouts and has weak estrogen-like activity that can confound hormone-sensitive work; track pH with a meter or indicator strip.[7] HEPES is not included, so the medium relies on its bicarbonate buffer in a CO₂ incubator; choose the 30 mM HEPES version if you need extra buffering outside the incubator. Users are advised to review the literature for supplementation and physiological growth requirements specific to each cell type.[1,2]
Yes, once diluted to 1X. The medium is bicarbonate-buffered (1,200 mg/L at 1X), designed for a CO₂ atmosphere; keep time in room air short.
Mix 2X DMEM with an equal volume of a compatible solution or matrix — supplements, treatment solutions, cell suspensions or hydrogels — so glucose (3.15 g/L), amino acids, vitamins and salts end up at their 1X concentration.Serum, antibiotics and other supplements can be added before or after filter sterilization, observing sterility precautions.
The endotoxin specification is < 0.05 EU/mL, tested by the USP <85> bacterial endotoxins test (BET) and reported on the lot Certificate of Analysis. The medium is made with Ultrapure Type 1 water (18.2 MΩ·cm).
Yes. Each lot ships with a CoA covering appearance (pale yellow), pH 7.4 (± 0.04), sterility (no bacterial or fungal growth after 14 days of incubation per USP), endotoxin and osmolality results. Request copies at support@diagnocine.com.
