Cat. No.: BMG-GD2614-01
Size: 10 Preps

Description:

The Plant DNA Maxi Kit is a genomic DNA extraction kit optimized for large-scale purification of DNA from plant tissues.

Applications:
  • The kit is suitable for extracting DNA that can be used in PCR, allowing for the amplification of specific DNA sequences for genetic analysis and research.
  • The high-quality DNA obtained is ideal for quantitative PCR, which is used to measure DNA amounts in real-time, crucial for gene expression studies.
  • The DNA extracted can be used in Southern blotting, a method for detecting specific DNA sequences within a complex mixture.
  • The kit facilitates the extraction of DNA for RFLP analysis, which helps in identifying genetic variations and mapping.
  • The DNA is suitable for preparation for NGS, enabling comprehensive genomic studies and identification of genetic markers.
Features:
  • The kit can process up to 1 gram of fresh plant tissue or 250 mg of dry plant tissue, making it ideal for large-scale DNA extractions.
  • It is optimized for the purification of genomic DNA, mitochondrial DNA, and chloroplast DNA from plant tissues.
  • The kit uses a spin column format with a glass fiber matrix to bind DNA. The process involves grinding plant tissue in liquid nitrogen, followed by lysis buffer incubation. The lysate is treated with RNase A to remove RNA, and filtered to eliminate cell debris and salt precipitates.
  • DNA binds to the column in the presence of a binding buffer and chaotropic salt. Contaminants are washed away with a wash buffer containing ethanol, and the DNA is eluted using a low salt elution buffer, TE, or water. The procedure does not require phenol extraction or alcohol precipitation, making it straightforward and efficient.
  • The entire procedure can be completed in less than 50 minutes, providing a quick and efficient method for DNA extraction.
  • The DNA can be eluted in a volume ranging from 200 µL to 2 mL, allowing flexibility in concentration for downstream applications.
