Gentamicin (10 µg/mL) Nutrient Agar Plates are designed for the cultivation and selective isolation of non-fastidious microorganisms from a variety of specimen types, including clinical, food, dairy, and environmental samples. The inclusion of gentamicin provides selective pressure, inhibiting the growth of gentamicin-sensitive bacteria and allowing for the isolation of resistant strains.
Nutrient Agar itself is a foundational culture medium. Its formulation supports a wide range of microorganisms and is especially valued for teaching and demonstration purposes due to its stability at ambient temperatures and reduced risk of overgrowth compared to richer media.
