Description:
Luria-Bertani (LB) agar with kanamycin is a rich, selective bacterial medium (LB) made by the addition of the antibiotic kanamycin, often used to grow and maintain recombinant E. coli or other kanamycin-resistant strains.
Luria-Bertani agar with kanamycin provides a rich nutrient supply allowing fast growth and colony yield for E.coli and related bacteria. Sodium Chloride maintains osmotic balance, supporting membrane function and transport. Tryptone and yeast extract provides peptides, amino acids, and vitamins. kanamycin-resistant bacteria can grow and form colonies on LB–kanamycin agar; non-resistant cells are inhibited or killed.
