FluxMPS™ Leibovitz's L-15 Medium w/o Sodium Pyruvate: 2X Liquid
FluxMPS™ DCP-LL15-P2X is a Microfluidics Suitable, quadruple-stage ultra-filtered Leibovitz's L-15 2X formulation engineered for primary cells and CO2-free live-cell imaging on microfluidic and organ-on-a-chip (OoC) platforms. A quadruple-stage train (0.1 µm ×2 + 0.04 µm ×2) reaches a 0.04 µm final cut-off, five times finer than the 0.22 µm membranes used for conventional sterile filtration. CO2-free by design — D-galactose (1.8 g/L) and elevated amino acid buffering maintain pH under atmospheric conditions. Formulation: [+] L-Glutamine, [+] Phenol Red, [+] Calcium, [+] Magnesium | [-] Sodium Pyruvate.
- CO2-free by design: D-galactose (1.8 g/L) as the primary carbon source plus elevated amino acid buffering — no CO2 incubator required
- Quadruple-stage filtration (0.1 µm → 0.04 µm → 0.1 µm → 0.04 µm) reaching a 0.04 µm final pore size
- Endotoxin release specification: < 0.05 EU/mL (LAL, USP <85>), tested per manufacturing batch
- 2X concentrated Leibovitz's L-15 formulated without sodium pyruvate, allowing researcher-controlled secondary carbon addition

Engineered where standard media fails
Conventional 0.22 µm–filtered Leibovitz's L-15 passes subvisible particulates, mycoplasma-sized organisms, and endotoxin fragments that interfere with CO2-free pH maintenance and open-stage imaging clarity. FluxMPS™ is built to address these failure modes.
Microchannel-safe purity
0.04 µm final filtration; USP <788> Method 1 (light obscuration) particulate compliance. Ultra-low particulate L-15 for clear live imaging and CO2-free chip loading.
CO2-free by design formulation
Leibovitz's L-15 uses D-galactose (not glucose) as the primary carbon source and elevated amino acid concentrations for CO2-free pH buffering. This is a 2X concentrated formulation.
Ultrapure-grade water
Type 1 water (18.2 MΩ·cm) with controlled trace-metal and total organic carbon (TOC) content for consistent lot-to-lot quality.
Low background for imaging
Release specification < 0.05 EU/mL (LAL, USP <85>) and a low particulate baseline — a key control point for confocal and biosensor-based primary cell assays.
CO2-free design
D-galactose plus elevated amino acid buffering maintains pH under atmospheric conditions — no CO2 gas supplementation required.

Open-Stage & CO2-Free Microscopy
L-15 plus galactose maintains pH without CO2 — a standard base for prolonged live-cell confocal, TIRF, light-sheet, and spinning-disk imaging on open-stage microscopes.
Primary Cell Dissociation & Transport
CO2-free L-15 is a standard dissociation and transport buffer for primary cells, tissue pieces, and organoids outside the incubator.
OoC Loading & Priming
CO2-independent L-15 enables chip loading, priming, and cell seeding outside incubators without pH drift during critical chip assembly steps.
In Vivo Imaging & Intravital Microscopy
L-15 is a standard superfusion medium for intravital microscopy, maintaining pH in open tissue preparations without CO2 during surgical and imaging procedures.
CO2-Free Metabolic Studies
A galactose-based energy source enables metabolic studies without CO2 interference; galactose is commonly used to force oxidative phosphorylation in metabolically flexible cells.
Acute Brain Slice & Neuron Imaging
CO2-free L-15 supports neuronal viability in acute brain slice preparations and dissociated neuron imaging without requiring carbogen (95% O2/5% CO2) gassing.
