Human Diseases

  • B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL): MEF2D is overexpressed and contributes to tumor progression and poor prognosis. Its knockdown has been shown to inhibit cell viability and induce apoptosis in B-ALL cells.
  • Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC): MEF2D promotes invasion and metastasis of cancer cells.
  • Colorectal Cancer: Involved in enhancing cancer cell invasion and is associated with poor clinical outcomes.
  • Nasal Type Extranodal NK/T-cell Lymphoma: Associated with the pathogenesis of this lymphoma type.

Cellular Signaling Pathways

  • PI3K-AKT Pathway: MEF2D influences this pathway, which is critical for cell survival and proliferation, particularly in B-ALL.
  • MAPK Signaling Pathway: Implicated in various cellular responses including growth, differentiation, and apoptosis.
  • Calcium Signaling Pathway: MEF2D plays a role in calcium-dependent processes, affecting neuronal differentiation and muscle formation.
  • Wnt Signaling Pathway: Involved in regulating gene expression during development and cancer progression.
