General information
| Cat. No. | :FNK-BML032 |
| Size | :50µg |
| Clone | :VR-VL9E11 |
| Antigen | :Human |
| Host Animal | :Mouse |
| Cross Reactivity | :Human |
| Labeled | :Unlabeled |
| Preparation | :Produced in mice immunized with synthetic peptides, amino acid residue 200-214 (SLEQCGROPVIHTKC), which is corresponding to the linker site of ligand binding domain of human very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) receptor (VLDL-R). VLDL-R specific IgG was purified from mouse ascites fluid with a protein A- Sepharose. |
| Formulation | :0.2 µm filtered PBSsolution |
| Specificity | :This antibody has been selected for its ability to bind for human VLDL-R expressed in CHO cells (ldl-A7). No cross-reactivity with human LDL receptor and apoER2 receptor was confirmed (see ref. 1). The amino acid sequence of synthetic peptide is identical to that in mouse, rat and rabbit, indicating that this antibody may crossreact with VLDL receptorin those amimals. |
| Application | :Western blot - This antibody can be used at 1.0 µg/mL for western blot analysis (1). :Flowcytometry - This antibody can be used as a 1st antibody for immunohistochemistry. Please see the references (2) and (3) for details. :Immunohistochemistry - This antibody can be used for immunohistochemistry (4). :Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory for each application. |
| Immunogen | :synthetic peptide |
| Ig Isotype | :IgG2b |
| Storage | :IgG in PBS solution are stable for twelve months from the date of receipt when stored at-80˚C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. |

VLDL in the Cell
- Interaction with cell surfaces: At the capillaries of target tissues (like adipose tissue and muscle), VLDL interacts with lipoprotein lipase (LPL) on the surface of endothelial cells.
- Lipid delivery: LPL, activated by apoC-II on the VLDL surface, breaks down triglycerides in VLDL, releasing free fatty acids. These fatty acids can then be taken up by nearby cells for energy use or storage.
- VLDL remnant formation: As VLDL loses triglycerides, it becomes denser and transforms into intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL) and eventually low-density lipoprotein (LDL) LDL uptake: Cells with LDL receptors, including liver cells and various other tissue cells, can take up LDL particles through receptor-mediated endocytosis.
VLDL in the Human Body
VLDL is often referred to as "bad" cholesterol, similar to LDL, because high levels of VLDL can contribute to the buildup of plaque in the arteries, a condition known as atherosclerosis. This plaque buildup can narrow the arteries and restrict blood flow, increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke.High levels of VLDL are associated with several health issues, including:
- Atherosclerosis: Plaque buildup in the arteries leading to cardiovascular diseases.
- Metabolic Syndrome: A cluster of conditions that increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
- Insulin Resistance: Reduced ability of cells to respond to insulin, often seen in type 2 diabetes.
- Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease: Fat accumulation in the liver not due to alcohol consumption.
