Ampicillin Sodium Salt (100µg/mL) Nutrient Agar Plates are designed for the selective cultivation and isolation of bacteria resistant to ampicillin, as well as for general use with non-fastidious microorganisms. The addition of ampicillin at 100 µg/mL provides effective selection for ampicillin-resistant strains, such as E. coli carrying ampicillin resistance plasmids, making these plates ideal for molecular biology applications, plasmid propagation, and recombinant protein production.
Nutrient Agar is a basic, non-selective culture medium. Its balanced formulation makes it suitable for routine cultivation, teaching, and demonstration purposes, as it resists overgrowth that can occur in richer media.
For extended versatility, the medium can be supplemented with biological fluids (e.g., horse or sheep blood) to support the growth of fastidious organisms.
