FluxMPS™ Minimum Essential Medium (MEM), Low Glucose w/o Sodium Pyruvate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Phenol Red: 1X Liquid

Contains L-Glutamine Contains Calcium Contains Magnesium Contains Glucose Without Sodium Bicarbonate Without Phenol Red Without HEPES Without Sodium Pyruvate

FluxMPS™ Minimum Essential Medium (MEM), Low Glucose w/o Sodium Pyruvate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Phenol Red: 1X Liquid is a Microfluidics Suitable, quadruple-stage ultra-filtered (0.1 µm ×2 + 0.04 µm ×2) 1X liquid cell culture medium engineered for organ-on-a-chip (OoC), tissue-on-a-chip (ToC), and microphysiological system (MPS) applications. The validated four-stage filtration train reaches a 0.04 µm final cut-off — well beyond conventional 0.22 µm-filtered media — supporting microchannel-safe performance with substantially lower particulate load.

  • Quadruple-stage nano-filtration: 0.1 µm (Prefiltration I & II) + 0.04 µm (Final filtration I & II), reaching a 0.04 µm final cut-off
  • Endotoxin release specification: < 0.05 EU/mL (USP <85> BET), tested per manufacturing batch
  • MEM base formulation, Low Glucose (1000 mg/L / 1.0 g/L) with L-Glutamine (292 mg/L); pH 7.4 (USP <791>)
  • Formulated without Sodium Pyruvate, Sodium Bicarbonate, or Phenol Red for defined, low-background applications
  • Prepared with Ultrapure Type 1 water (18.2 MΩ·cm) under ISO Class 5 (Class 100) aseptic fill & finish
  • Manufactured under an ISO 13485:2016 quality management system; final QC and customization at Diagnocine, Totowa, NJ
  • Bicarbonate-free formulation reduces CO₂ dependence; HEPES supplementation available for extended non-CO₂ culture systems
  • Custom formulations available — pH, glucose, salts, HEPES, and nutrient composition on request

Why FluxMPS™

Engineered where standard media fails

Conventional 0.22 µm-filtered media carry mycoplasma-sized particulates (0.2–0.3 µm), subvisible debris, and lot-to-lot particulate variability that accumulate inside microchannels — corrupting biosensor readings and shortening device lifetimes. FluxMPS™ is engineered to address these failure modes at the source.

Purity Architecture

Quadruple-stage filtration system

FluxMPS™ Minimum Essential Medium (MEM), Low Glucose w/o Sodium Pyruvate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Phenol Red: 1X Liquid is processed through a four-stage serial filtration sequence — two 0.1 µm prefilters, each protecting its own dedicated 0.04 µm final filter — reaching a 0.04 µm final pore size.

  1. 1

    0.1 µm Prefiltration I

Removes large particulates, cell debris and protein aggregates; protects the first 0.04 µm final filter cartridge.

  2. 2

    0.04 µm Final filtration I

First 0.04 µm pass; retains sub-micron particulates and microaggregates that pass through a conventional 0.22 µm filter.

  3. 3

    0.1 µm Prefiltration II

Second dedicated prefilter, protecting the second 0.04 µm final filter cartridge.

  4. 4

0.04 µm Final filtration II — Polish

Ultimate polishing filter prior to ISO Class 5 aseptic fill & finish.

Performance vs. conventional media

Four sequential stages reaching 0.04 µm deliver approximately 5× cleaner media by particulate count compared to single-pass 0.22 µm filtration, with USP <788> Method 1 compliance verified on every lot.

5×
A quadruple-stage train (0.1 µm ×2 + 0.04 µm ×2) reaches a 0.04 µm final cut-off, five times finer than the 0.22 µm membranes used for conventional sterile filtration.
0.04
µm final filter pore size — sub-mycoplasma polishing
Sterility assurance: Every lot undergoes 14-day USP <71> sterility testing. Mycoplasma risk is controlled through 0.1 µm mycoplasma-retentive filtration; individual lots are not routinely tested to USP <63>.
Grade: This product is Microfluidics Suitable, filtered to a 0.04 µm final cut-off. It is not an MPS Grade product — that designation is reserved for the 0.01 µm ultra nano-filtered line, which adds 0.02 µm and 0.01 µm stages after the 0.04 µm polish. For applications requiring the 0.01 µm cut-off, contact support@diagnocine.com.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about FluxMPS™ Minimum Essential Medium (MEM), Low Glucose w/o Sodium Pyruvate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Phenol Red: 1X Liquid and Microfluidics Suitable cell culture media.

Yes. DCP-MEM-PBRN1X uses our Quadruple-stage filtration (0.1 µm ×2 + 0.04 µm ×2), delivering ultra-low particulate counts that help prevent microchannel clogging in OoC and MPS devices.
Standard 0.22 µm filtration leaves intact mycoplasma (0.2–0.3 µm) and subvisible particulates that can accumulate in microchannels. FluxMPS™ uses four sequential stages reaching 0.04 µm, delivering approximately 5× lower particulate counts per USP <788> Method 1.
This formulation is manufactured without sodium pyruvate, sodium bicarbonate, or phenol red to give researchers full control over buffering and metabolic tracer design. Sodium pyruvate, sodium bicarbonate, or phenol red can be added at the bench per your protocol; contact support@diagnocine.com for a custom pre-formulated version.
Not required (bicarbonate-free); HEPES supplementation is recommended for extended non-CO₂ culture. If used in a CO₂ incubator, sodium bicarbonate or HEPES should be added to buffer the medium appropriately.
Yes. This formulation can be supplemented with FBS (5–20%), growth factors, antibiotics, or other additives per standard practice. Serum and other protein-containing supplements should be sterile-filtered through a 0.2 µm low-protein-binding PES or PVDF membrane before addition; defined, protein-free additions may be filtered at 0.1 µm. Add all supplements immediately before use.
Endotoxin is controlled per manufacturing batch rather than per unit. Every batch is tested by LAL assay (USP <85> Bacterial Endotoxins Test; assay sensitivity 0.005 EU/mL) before release and must meet the specification of < 0.05 EU/mL. Lot-specific results are documented in the Certificate of Analysis, available from support@diagnocine.com.
Yes. A lot-specific CoA is available for every shipment and includes: appearance, pH (USP <791>), osmolality (USP <785>), endotoxin (USP <85> BET), sterility (USP <71>), particulate matter (USP <788> Method 1), raw material traceability, manufacturing date, and authorized release signatures.
