FluxMPS™ CMRL 1066 Medium: 2X Liquid
Double-strength (2X) CMRL 1066 — a chemically defined, nucleoside- and vitamin-rich medium for pancreatic islet, primary-cell and organ culture — ultra-filtered through a quadruple-stage 0.1 µm / 0.04 µm filtration system. With a sodium bicarbonate buffer, it is approximately 5× cleaner than conventional 0.22 µm-filtered media by particulate count.

Engineered where standard media fails
Conventional CMRL 1066 is sterile-filtered once at 0.22 µm. That pore size can pass mycoplasma and leaves subvisible particulates that settle in microchannels, foul membranes and add noise to optical readouts.[9,10] FluxMPS™ CMRL 1066 keeps the original formulation and removes that failure mode.
Microchannel-safe purity
A 0.04 µm final filter and USP <788> particulate control keep subvisible debris out of chips, tubing, membranes and matrices.
Total metabolic control
Defined 2,000 mg/L D-glucose and 200 mg/L L-glutamine in the 2X (half that at 1X), with no sodium pyruvate.
Ultrapure-grade water
Made with Ultrapure Type 1 water (18.2 MΩ·cm) and released at < 0.05 EU/mL endotoxin by USP <85>.
Low background for imaging
Particle-depleted medium reduces scatter and debris artifacts in confocal imaging and on-chip sensing.
Nucleoside- and cofactor-rich
58 components, including deoxynucleosides, NAD, NADP, FAD, coenzyme A, cocarboxylase, glutathione, cholesterol and Tween 80.

Quadruple-stage filtration system
Every lot of DCP-CMRL2X is membrane filtered at 0.1 µm twice and 0.04 µm twice — a ready-to-dilute 2X CMRL 1066 polished to a 0.04 µm final pore size, a purity level single-pass 0.22 µm media cannot reach.

Performance vs. conventional media
By particulate count, FluxMPS™ CMRL 1066 is approximately 5× cleaner than conventional 0.22 µm-filtered media, lowering clog risk in narrow channels and long perfusion runs.

Where FluxMPS™ CMRL 1066 fits
CMRL 1066 is a chemically defined, nucleoside- and vitamin-rich cell culture medium originally developed for the long-term cultivation of mouse L cells without protein supplementation.[1] It can also be supplemented with serum to support fibroblast-like cells and other mammalian cell types and is used in pancreatic islet, primary-cell, organ-culture, and general cell-biology research.[2]
CMRL 1066 Medium 2X is a double-strength formulation designed to be diluted to 1X or mixed with an equal volume of another compatible solution while maintaining the intended final nutrient concentration. The 2X concentration is useful when incorporating high-volume supplements, treatment solutions, cell suspensions, agar, or other matrices that would otherwise dilute a standard 1X medium.
This format is suitable for customized culture-media preparation, semisolid cultures, tissue and organ culture, pancreatic-islet studies, fibroblast-like cell culture, and other specialized mammalian-cell research. It should generally be adjusted to a final 1X concentration before use unless a validated protocol specifies otherwise.
Automated Bioreactors & Robotics
For automated bioreactors, liquid-handling robots and closed perfusion loops with fine valves and in-line sensors, an optional 10 nm (0.01 µm) ultra-filtered grade of this medium is available.
- Total Particulate Exclusion: 0.01 µm filtration removes virtually all particulates down to the nanometer scale.
- Valve & Sensor Protection: keeps micro-valves, pumps and optical or electrochemical sensors free of deposits.
- Extended Perfusion Stability: supports long, uninterrupted perfusion runs with fewer line changes.
Inquiry Required: the 0.01 µm grade is made on request — email support@diagnocine.com with your catalog number and volume.
Pancreatic Islet Culture
A widely used base for maintaining isolated pancreatic islets in research workflows, with serum or defined supplements.[2]
Primary Cells & Organ Culture
Supports primary mammalian cells, tissue explants and organ culture where a nutrient-rich defined base is needed.[1]
Fibroblasts & Mouse L Cells
Originally developed for long-term, protein-free cultivation of mouse L cells; with serum it supports fibroblast-like cells.[1,3]
Agar & Matrix Cultures
The 2X format mixes 1:1 with agar, hydrogels or other matrices so the final culture sits at 1X nutrient strength.
Islet-on-Chip & MPS
Microchannel-safe medium for perfused islet-on-chip and other organ-on-a-chip platforms.[4,5,6,7,8]
Microscopy & Optical Sensing
Fewer particles means cleaner fields for confocal imaging, calcium imaging and on-chip biosensors.
