Application Notes
Cytogenin was first isolated from fermentation broth of Streptoverticillium eurocidicum MI43-37F11as an immunomodulative antitumor substance. Total synthesis of cytogen in was also performed. It showed antitumor activity against Ehrlich carcinoma and IMC carcinoma in mice by oral administration. Cytogenin showed weak cytotoxicity against L1210 and other cancer cells at 50-100 μg/ml, and it was not toxic to mice at 200 mg/kg (po). Cytogenin had an anti-inflammatory activity against collagen-induced arthritic model in mice. It had anti-diabetic effect using streptozotocin- induced diabetes in mice. Cytogenin suppressed angiogenes is induced by malignant tumor cells,S-180,in a mouse dorsal air sac assay system.
